The Canadian designers at Barfly Beer Fridges rescue old fridges
(circa 1940s-'60s), strip and repaint them, re-insulate them,
and restore the chrome trimmings. They then add a chromed
tap handle and black-and-chrome drip tray, so clients can
have a keg (20 or 30 liters) of their favorite beer handy
at all times. The fridges can be used to store anything, including
food or supplies that need to be kept cold.

Bosch¹s Evolution dishwashers boast a series of technical innovations: a very low 42 decibel sound level while running; the ability to use as little
1.8 gallons of water per cycle; and an Ecoaction button, which reduces energy consumption by 25 percent. The company¹s Nexxt 500 Plus/800 Laundry Washers also feature the Ecoaction energy-saving setting, which can decrease the energy used during a cycle by 20 percent. The washers, which exceed 2007 federal regulatory standards for energy, come in silver, white, champagne, and silver duo-tone (800 series only). Bosch¹s wall ovens feature a seven-minute preheat setting and 30'' models have the largest capacity on the market at 4.7 cubic feet.

The third generation DishDrawer dishwashing system incorporates
Fisher & Paykel's patented SmartDrive technology. The
company claims the system is the only dishwasher able to run
two cycles at one time, and the only one that varies the water
pressure within each wash cycle. Eight different wash options
allow users to customize their dishwashing. The system requires
as little as 2.4 gallons of water per load.

Whirlpool has introduced Duet, a front-loading washer and
dryer. The washer uses 68 percent less water and 67 percent
less electricity than standard washing machines, representing
a savings of over 17,000 gallons of water and nearly 600 kilowatt
hours of electricity per household, per year. Four sensors
inside the washer measure the water quantity, load saturation,
water temperature, and motor speed to control all elements
of the washing process. The dryer's Senseon technology continually
senses the amount of moisture remaining in fabrics.
